    Description

Up for sale is my entire collection of Mickey Mouse Lusterware Tea Sets. I have over 31 different sets to sell. Most of them with boxes. My wife was writing a book on them but passed away before it was finished. There were 36 sets in all over the 14 years they came out. This was one of the first ones. The tea pot is tall and square, Plate size is 3 7/16. One of the hard ones to find in a box. Box is in good shape still has part of the label Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  One plate has a very little chip, but the set is in
    excellent shape.
I know I am asking a little high but make me an offer...
Below is a small part of what she had written.
In 1929 Mickey Mouse was born, The Geo Borgfeldt Corp signed with Disney to distribute different items with Disney character on them, paying Walt 0 for that privilege. A few years they started selling Lusterware Tea sets. First was a set with Mickey’s head as the top to the tea pot and creamer. Then came the set with Mickey and Minnie on it called “The Little Hostess Set.” In 1933 he started selling the lusterware sets we have today. They came different ways, with every couple of years being different. They sold for over 13 years. They were sold thru catalogs and many 5 & 10 cent drug stores. They sold for about $.75 up to .25.
All sets came in a display box with straw. You can tell the different years of the sets by the Tea pots. The factory in Japan was known with the Green M on their good set they sold on the market. But Disney didn’t not want any reference to the factory that made them on the sets.
The first sets came out in 1932, the tea pots were round. These came in sets of 4 and 6 cups sets with saucers and Plates. Plate sizes were 3 7/8” round. Colors were White and Gold, White and Gold with a black line, Blue and White, Blue White with a black line.
The second set the tea pots with Long gated. These also came in sets of 4 and 6, and they added a 3 cup set. The 3 cup set only had cups and saucers, no plate but the saucer size was 3 3/8. They also added a mini set of 4 cups. Mini sets were in Blue and White sets. The 4 and 6 cups set Plate size were 3 7/8 ” round. Colors were White and Gold, White and Gold with a black line, Blue and White, Blue White with a black line. This year they added a gold and blue set and Gold and blue with a black line. This year they also came out with Wall flower hangers. The factory that made these set had a falling out with owners and split into two companies that fought over the rights to make the tea sets. That is why you will find colors to differ between sets.
The third set the tea pot was hexagon. This was all the same as the second set but again they added 2 more sizes, were plates are 4 ½ and another set were the plates were 5 ¼ with the same colors. This year they added the serving plate. Very rare to find a full set.
During war II they only sets they had were simply square with Mickey on the tea pot, creamer, and sugar bowl. Minnie was on the cups, saucers and plates. After the war the tea pots say Made in "Occupied Japan"
    The 5
    th
and last set made came with square tea pots. This year was the same as the second and third sets and the last year they would be made. They added Bread box and spice holders.
