    Description

For sale is a Huron or Chippewa Indian Tomahawk Ball Club from the early 1800's. The club is carved from one piece of wood including the heavy ball. There are paint remnants of ocher and yellow on the ball. The ball had originally a metal spike, the bottom piece of it is still in the ball.
The piece is 21 inch ( 530 mm) long overall and the ball is 4 1/2 inch ( 115 mm) in diameter approximately. At the end of the handle is a hole for a draping so is also a small hole in the  tip over the ball. It seems this formidable weapon was decorated with feathers or leather throngs  in early time.
The ball is extensively carved. The whole piece shows marks of fighting and wear. A wonderful piece of Indian history!
