    Description

    Antique Native American Trade Knives.
Awesome knives! Both knives are solid, no looseness or wiggle. The blades measure about 6 3/4 and 6 1/4 inches long respectively. Both have wood handles. One has been uniquely hand carved and is held together with three large pins. In the fourth picture you can see part of the tang (the shaft inside the handle) is broken off. However, in picture five you can see from the top that the blade is still one complete piece, there’s simply a part of it missing. The knife is sound. The other has a leather or hide sleeve sown together with what appears to be gut. There’s a crack in the handle on one side where the blade enters it but it appears to go only about 1/2 an inch. The knife is sound. There’s a small piece of wood on the top of the handle that looks like it was added as filler (I think when the wrap was added), but I’m not sure. See the last two pictures. I believe both are genuine antique trade knives used by Native Americans for hunting and fighting. Really cool! Both knives have discoloring, scratches, blemishes, dings, rust, and wear consistent with antique items. I have not attempted to clean them. There’s no sheaths. I have no history for them, I acquired them in a group of Native American artifacts.
